Over 200 attendees took part in the inaugural "ACM AI Convention - Interdisciplinary AI" on February 8, 2025. The convention provided a platform for networking, learning, and showcasing AI-driven innovations, connecting students from diverse fields such as engineering, healthcare, cybersecurity, business, and environmental sciences. Organized by 小黄鸭视频鈥檚 Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter, this convention was the first entirely student-led event of its kind in Florida.
The event鈥檚 motive was to help students navigate the rapidly evolving AI landscape. 鈥淪tudents are the future of AI, driving its growth and innovation, so we aimed to create an educational event where they could gain practical insights and develop a mindful approach to AI usage,鈥� said Fareeza Rahman, ACM鈥檚 Vice President (Computer Science, Junior). 鈥淎nd so, we chose 'Interdisciplinary AI' as our inaugural theme.鈥�
The event featured a full spectrum of talks and opportunities for students, including:
- Workshops
- Company Exhibitions
- Sessions on Career Development
- Speaker sessions, including a Keynote presentation from Professor John Licato
- Project Showcases
鈥淚n short, I was impressed,鈥� said Professor John Licato. 鈥淭he 小黄鸭视频 ACM student chapter did an amazing job organizing this successful event and ensuring that all of their plans were executed smoothly. I don't think a lot of people realize how much work goes into making these kinds of events successful. I hope that, as the University positions itself to be a leader in AI and cybersecurity, the student organizations continue to hold and grow events like this,鈥� said Professor John Licato.
Overall, the event introduced students to the field of artificial intelligence by offering an interdisciplinary perspective on AI's transformative applications across various industries. Attendees explored the latest trends in AI, getting exposed to its practical applications, and they discussed its ethical implications.
