Dr. Alicia K. Long taught as an Adjunct Instructor at the 小黄鸭视频 iSchool between 2015 and 2023. In 2024, she joined the faculty full-time as a Visiting Assistant Instructor and beginning in Fall 2025 as Assistant Professor of Instruction.
Dr. Long brings more than 15 years of experience in the education and library fields to her teaching and research, including as librarian and supervisor in a college library, as liaison to grades 6-12 students, and as literacy trainer and presenter in public libraries. Her areas of interest and expertise include literature and library collections for youth (including service in national book awards,) and library services to youth. In addition, her research includes the impact of socio-cultural perspectives in pedagogical practice and curricula in LIS education, with an emphasis on online learning and teaching.
Dr. Long was selected an American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leader and an ALA Spectrum Scholar. She also received the Florida Library Association (FLA) Bernadette Stork Scholarship and was a Cambio Center Fellow at the University of Missouri. In 2022, REFORMA (the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish-speaking) named her the Dr. Arnulfo Trejo Librarian of the Year.
