Tampa Emancipation Day Celebration

In collaboration with the С»ÆÑ¼ÊÓÆµ Racial Justice Initiative and Tampa Bay Housing Authority, The Tampa Bay History Center will honor the perseverance and accomplishments of Tampa’s Black Pioneers. On May 6, 2025, Tampa will be celebrating the emancipation of its formerly enslaved population on May 6, 1864. The event will feature a special ceremony honoring Tampa's historical black public schools, as well as a lite bites and refreshments. It is an event you don't want to miss.
The program will highlight a special reading of the Emancipation Proclamation by several dignitaries.
Join us in celebrating this momentous day in Tampa's Black History and reconnect with the community roots while making new memories.

To make your experience as smooth as possible, please plan to park in the Trio Building Parking Garage, located south of St. James @ Encore. You may enter the Trio Parking Garage on Governor St.
