About Us
Who We Are
We, the staff of the С»ÆѼÊÓƵ Counseling Center, come from varied backgrounds, with different life experiences that inform the ways we interact with each other and our practice of mental health services. We are psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, and administrative support professionals committed to treating everyone with dignity, respect, positive regard, and excellence. We believe in a growth mindset – that to provide our community with the best mental health services, we must continually focus on our own growth and development as individuals and professionals, with a willingness to innovate and adapt in a changing environment.
We work with individuals from varying cultures, with unique lived experiences, thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and attitudes. We strive to include everyone, and for everyone to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance when they seek our services. We aim to provide an environment safe for personal exploration with a sense of security that acknowledges past experiences of support and care, as well as maltreatment, trauma, and discrimination.
Our approach to treatment works to ensure access to resources regardless of circumstances and background. We adjust to changes in demand throughout the academic year in a way that minimizes wait times and provides a range of service options to meet varied needs, promoting individual empowerment.
The С»ÆѼÊÓƵ Counseling Center is accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS). The doctoral internship training program is accredited by the American Psychological Association Commission on Accreditation (APACoA). To maintain both our IACS and APACoA accreditation, we engage in activities that improve our ability to serve marginalized populations who have been underserved with traditional mental health services. These activities include practicing cultural humility, increasing proficiency in multicultural counseling, and ensuring that our treatment and outreach services promote positive health outcomes for all students and reduce mental health disparities.
